Can I be saved?    Is Baptism necessary?    What are the minimum requirements for Salvation?    Does hell really exist?

How to Pray the Rosary

While we say the prayers of the Rosary, we try to think of Our Blessed Lord.  While we say each group of Ten Hail Mary's --which is called a decade--We think of one of the mysteries of His Birth, Passion and Glory.  If we notice our mind wandering, we bring it back to the mystery.  As long as we are doing our best, our Rosary is well said, even though we have distractions.  The following suggestions will help you to think about each mystery

Say your Rosary every day.  Families which say it together will be specially blessed by God.

***********

While holding the crucifix make the Sign of the Cross and then recite the Apostles Creed. Recite the Our Father on the first large bead. On each of the three small beads recite a Hail Mary for an increase of faith, hope and charity. Recite the Glory Be to the Father on the next large bead. Recall the first Rosary mystery and recite the Our Father on the same large bead. On each of the adjacent ten small beads recite a Hail Mary while reflecting on the mystery. On the next large bead recite the Glory Be to the Father. The Fatima decade prayer may also be said. Each succeeding decade is prayed in a similar manner by recalling the appropriate mystery, reciting the Our Father, ten Hail Marys, the Glory Be to the Father and the Fatima decade prayer (optional) while reflecting on the mystery. When the fifth mystery is completed the Rosary is customarily concluded with the Hail, Holy Queen.

THE ROSARY PRAYERS

THE SIGN OF THE CROSS In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

THE APOSTLES' CREED I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son, Our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

(At the end of each decade, say this prayer)

FATIMA DECADE PRAYER "O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell; lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy.

THE OUR FATHER Our father, Who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

HAIL MARY Hail Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

GLORY BE TO THE FATHER Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. ."

HAIL, HOLY QUEEN Hail, Holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,  that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let Us Pray O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death, and resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise: through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

The Joyful Mysteries of Christ's Life

Say on Mondays and Thursdays

The Annunciation

Think Of...
The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary with the news that she was to become the Mother of God; greeting her with the sublime salutation,
"Hail full of grace!  the Lord is with thee!"  and she humbly submitted herself to the will of the Father, saying, "behold the handmaid of the Lord."

I humbly pray for the virtue of humility.

The Visitation

Think Of...
Mary's charity in visiting her cousin Elizabeth and remaining with her for three months before the birth of John the Baptist.  Elizabeth greeted her with the prophetic words, "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb!" and Mary answered with the canticle of canticles, the Magnificat.

I humbly pray for the virtue of charity.

The Nativity

Think of...
The povery, so lovingly accepted by Mary when she placed the Infant Jesus, our God and Redeemer, in a manger in the stable of Bethlehem.
Choirs of angels filled the heavens with their exultant song of praise- "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men of good will."

I humbly pray for the virtue of detachment from the world.

The Presentation

Think of...
Mary's obedience to the law of God in presenting the Child Jesus in the Temple.  The holy prophet Simeon, taking the Child in his arms, offered thanks to God for sparing him to look upon his Saviour and foretold Mary's sufferings by the words: "Thy soul also a sword shall pierce..."

I humbly pray for the virtue of purity.

The Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple

Think of...
The deep sorrow with which Mary and Joseph sought the Child Jesus for three days, and the joy with which they found Jesus in the midst of the temple teaching the doctors.   Upon their request, he obediently returned home with them.

I humbly pray for the virtue of obedience to the Will Of God.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fire of hell.  Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Your mercy.
